Our dog, Mochi, is truly our first baby and a beloved member of our family. On Monday night, while we were out for a walk, Mochi had an accident—his left leg got caught in a neighbor’s septic tank cover, which was about six inches deep. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where Dr. Holmes at Standiford Veterinary Center took x-rays and confirmed that Mochi’s left hip was dislocated. Dr. Holmes was able to realign his hip that night, and we were advised to return for a follow-up with the orthopedic vet. Thankfully, the ortho vet confirmed that his hip was still in place and that surgery wasn’t immediately needed. We were hopeful that Mochi was on the mend.
Unfortunately, just a few days later, our worst fears came true. Mochi’s hip dislocated again when he got excited playing with his son, Buddy. We rushed back to the emergency vet, but the orthopedic surgeon wouldn’t be available until Tuesday. We had to make the difficult decision to have Mochi’s hip put back in place again for his comfort, knowing that surgery was now inevitable. So far, we’ve spent a significant amount on emergency care, and the upcoming hip replacement surgery is expected to be costly. This has been emotionally, mentally, and financially overwhelming for us, but we are determined to do everything we can for Mochi.
Mochi was born with weak hip and knee joints, but he still wants to run, jump, and play, even when he’s in pain. The funds raised will go directly toward his hip replacement surgery and follow-up care, giving him the best chance to return to his happy, playful self. We’ve tried to manage on our own, but we need help to keep our baby boy with us. Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to us and help cover Mochi’s medical expenses. Thank you so much for your kindness and support. God bless!
