Here is Moatasim's story:

Moatasim was preparing to leave Gaza for a journey to specialize in plastic surgery, driven by the shocking realization of the absence of plastic surgeons in the region. The lack of hope in the face of injuries and deformities motivated him to pursue a path where he could make a significant impact. Having graduated from Zagazig University in Egypt in May 2023, Moatasim was on a trip to Gaza to visit his family when the conflict erupted, making him stuck there and disrupting his plans to continue with his specialization certificate in plastic surgery.

Given the ongoing challenges in Gaza, characterized by a prolonged dearth of resources, a persistent lack of employment opportunities for several months, and the recent bombing of Gaza's infrastructure and higher education facilities, Moatasim faces financial constraints that hinder his ability to leave the region. Departing from Gaza requires a minimum expenditure of $6000, inclusive of associated fees, presenting a significant obstacle in covering the tuition essential for the continuation of his educational journey

Despite the challenges, Moatasim excelled in his medical studies, earning an outstanding distinction in the last three years of his studies. His dedication and passion for medicine fueled his desire to contribute to the well-being of others.

During the current war in Gaza, Moatasim actively participated in treating and caring for the displaced individuals in southern Gaza, leaving behind his home and dreams. His competence in providing medical assistance showcased his commitment to healing and helping those in need.

Now, with a general grade of "very good" upon graduation, Moatasim set his sights on a new chapter in his journey. His goal was not only personal success but also to return to Gaza armed with the specialized knowledge in plastic surgery that the community desperately needed.
