Hi, my name is Mo, and recently I was deported to Somalia. I have not been in this country since I was 3 years old. As someone who spent their entire life in America, this is not a safe place for me to stay. I never thought I would end up here, but because of a politically charged environment over immigration in the past 5 years, this is where I ended up.
Before I was here, I was detained by ICE for 14 months for reasons that are morally bankrupt to say the least. I am a non-violent, peaceful man. The crimes I am accused of are deeply rooted in systemic racism, immoral immigration policies, and a failed drug war. I actually havent been convicted of a crime in nearly a decade! Yet I have been harrased by the crooked MPD and any accussations later got dismissed in court. All those cops either quit or got fired given their nefarious nature of breaking the law themselves to get people in trouble. Eventhough I have been crime free for that duration of time, ICE decided to pick me due to Trumps zero tolerance law last July. Due to that, I became a victim of the system that benefits from the misfortunate. Cases like mine are easier to deal with by throwing them out of sight under the new administration, so with little warning, I was deported before I could finish fighting for my freedom.
This situation has financially and emotionally drained me. I have lost everything. The many years that I have spent in America are now just memories. I still have a home and a mortgage that needs to be taken care of while I fight to return. This is all very overwhelming so I am turning to friends, family, and the extended community for help. I have very little opportunity here to finance this fight myself. Somalia is a country that is dangerous for Americanized individuals like myself. Within the first day, I knew my time here was very limited.
Currently, my main goal is to get established in a safer country. While I am doing that, I will be continuing my fight to be reunited with my friends, family, home and my beloved dogs that I miss so much. I love my community and miss it and everyone there more than anything. Thank you so much for reading my story, if you can help at all, I would have the most gratitude for any contributions.
