Help Mo Long beat cancer

French master Henri Matisse said “creativity takes courage.”

Longtime Colorado Springs artist Maureen (“Mo”) Long is the epitome of a courageous artist. She has spent her life creating, and her graphic design work is evident all over Colorado Springs and Colorado. From interpretive displays at local and state parks to in-depth art installations at museums, Mo’s work educates, entertains and enlightens those who experience it.

Mo’s greatest works of art are her sons – Andrew, Jamin, Kevin and Tommy; four talented young men who are all artistic as well.
Mo has always been a fiercely independent woman. She has lived her life as a freelance artist, a career that requires persistence, talent and creativity.  It also requires courage. As soon as she completes one job, she must look for another one.

Last month, Mo took on a job she was never expecting. She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 3 breast cancer.
Mo is facing this challenge like she always has taken on challenges – plunging unafraid and head first into an aggressive treatment plan. She started chemotherapy last week, sitting for four hours while she worked on her artwork. After a series of chemo treatments she'll have a double mastectomy.

She is already planning her life post-cancer, but right now, she faces another challenge. She can’t work right now, so she is facing mounting financial issues over the next year.

We are raising funds to help Mo through her treatment and recovery. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
