Help Mo Heal and Rebuild After Stage IV Cancer Diagnosis

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Mo. I’m 32, a classically trained chef and novice florist. Early in 2024, I made the difficult decision to leave a high-paying job in the food industry due to workplace harassment, declining mental health—including struggles with suicidal ideation—and a deep loss of love for the industry. It was a breaking point, but also a turning point.

That spring, I dedicated myself to healing—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Therapy, consistent fitness, and deep inner work helped me rediscover my passions and purpose. I found fulfilling new work, embraced new experiences, and fell in love with life again.

Then, everything changed.

Near the end of 2024, after a series of medical emergencies and doctor visits, I was diagnosed with stage IV metastasized endometrial cancer. The news was devastating. I didn’t know how to feel, and honestly, I’m still processing it. But one thing became clear: cancer doesn’t wait for you to catch up. Reality set in fast.

At the start of 2025, I lost my job. My employer, who had initially been supportive, suddenly cited performance metrics as the reason for my termination. But the truth is, my illness affected my performance—how could it not? And I won’t apologize for that.

While I’m grateful to have the time and space to focus on healing, the financial loss has been overwhelming. Medical bills, daily living expenses, and the cost of simply surviving this battle are more than I can manage alone. And that’s why I’m asking for support.

I’ve always been the strong one. But cancer is teaching me that strength comes in many forms—and sometimes, it means asking for help.

In the coming months, I have surgeries and treatments ahead. Your support will allow me to focus on healing without the crushing weight of financial stress. More than anything, I want to survive and move forward with my dreams—to build and grow my own urban garden, curate food experiences, travel and share my experiences, own a home, care for my family (including my mother, a fellow cancer survivor), and continue being a contributing member of my community. I will also be creating a Google Doc to ask my family and friends (old and new) to sign up to spend time with me. I want to explore the interests of the people who show love and support me. More to come on that later.

If you’re able to donate, share, or spend time sharing your interests/hobbies, it would mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
