Urgent cancer treatment and evacuation needed!

Hi, My name is Mohammed El Helou. I am 22 years old living in Gaza. I graduated from university with honours in media and journalism. I never imagined I would have to use what I learned to document the genocide of my own people for over 100 days.

I have lost all that I had. My home was obliterated, along with all of my possessions. During the chaos of the bombardment, I lost my laptop, and around £15,000 worth of filming equipment such as my camera and lenses.

Shortly before October 7th, I was diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid. Although a worrying discovery, the cancer was contained in my thyroid and very treatable. The surgery was scheduled for October 9th, and obviously had to be cancelled due to the assault on Gaza that ensued. Completely overwhelming and collapsing the entire healthcare system.

I devoted everything I had left in me to cover the aggression against my people, despite worsening symptoms from the cancer, and a broken heart. I was forcibly separated from my family, and received no news of their whereabouts or safety. After an agonising wait, on day 92, a miracle happened. I found out that my mother, father, brother, and sister were still alive!

They are trapped in the North with no food or water, exposed to relentless attacks from the air and land. They are in dire need of evacuation.

I have dedicated all of my time, day and night, risking my life to showing the world the atrocities being committed against the Palestinians of Gaza.

The situation in Gaza has become incomprehensible. We are being targeted by airstrikes, tanks, snipers, and chemical weapons. We are trapped. There is no food or water entering Gaza, and disease is rife.

Now it is time to take care of myself. I have to prioritise my health and my family need desperate help. We need to evacuate Gaza, and I have to travel to receive urgent treatment for cancer before it is too late.

It costs around USD $8000-$13000 per person to evacuate. I also need to cover the expenses of travel and cancer treatment. Please help me secure our futures and rebuild our lives.
