My parents, Judy and Jack, have lived in the same apartment for over 40 years. That home was everything to them — their comfort, their security, the place where a lifetime of memories was made. Then one day, without warning, they received notice of a 35% rent increase that they simply could not afford on a fixed income.
We did not accept it quietly. Our family did everything in our power to fight it.
We contacted building management directly and pleaded their case. We called 311. We reached out to multiple local agencies asking for intervention and assistance. We knocked on every door we could find.
Every single one stayed closed.
After exhausting every option, we came to a painful but peaceful conclusion — perhaps this is God's plan. Perhaps He is moving Judy and Jack out of that apartment and into something better. A safer environment. Better living conditions. A place where they can live their remaining years with more comfort and dignity than they've had.
But getting there is not easy — and it is not free.
Judy and Jack are elderly. They are not able to physically pack, lift, or manage a move on their own. The toll this situation has taken on them emotionally and physically has been enormous. They are proud people who would never ask for help on their own — and truthfully, they were hesitant about this GoFundMe. But as their child, I sat with them and explained that the people who care about them simply want to help. That accepting kindness in a time of true need is not weakness — it is grace.
Our family is doing everything we can. We are showing up in every way possible. But moving expenses are beyond what we can fully cover alone, and we are humbly asking for your help.
Every dollar donated goes directly toward:
Professional movers — because Judy and Jack physically cannot lift or move on their own
Packing supplies and materials
Moving truck and transportation to their new home
Comfort essentials to help them feel safe, settled, and at peace as they begin this new chapter
Our goal is $1,500. Whether you give $5 or $500, every single dollar brings my parents one step closer to starting this new chapter with comfort and peace of mind.
Judy and Jack have spent their entire lives quietly giving to others — their family, their neighbors, their community. They have never asked for anything in return. This is our chance to show them that the love they've poured out over a lifetime has not gone unnoticed.
If you are unable to donate, please share this page in hopes that it reaches someone whose able to help.
Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your prayers. Judy and Jack are so deeply grateful. ❤️
