In Loving Memory of Mary Jane — Help Bring Her Home

With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news that our beloved Mary Jane has passed away, July 17, 2025, after a brave battle with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma.

MJ fought with strength, grace, and hope until the very end. Even in a very short span of time, she became a light in our lives — kind, gentle, and full of warmth. Her passing has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of her husband Denmark and all of us who loved her.

MJ and Denmark don't have family here in Canada - we are their family. In this most difficult time, we are their only support system. Denmark now faces not only the overwhelming grief of losing his wife, but also the financial challenge of fulfilling her final wish — to be brought home to the Philippines and laid to rest with her family.

Our beloved Mary Jane Anonuevo (MJ), 34, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma, a devastating form of cancer which has now spread and affected her liver. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Brampton Civic Hospital, facing each day with courage, grace, and hope — but the emotional and financial toll is immense.

MJ is new to Canada, having just arrived almost 2 years ago. She joined her husband here, Denmark, in the hopes of building a life together, full of dreams and aspirations for their future. But a diagnosis like this was never something they imagined. As a newcomer, MJ hasn't had time to build the financial safety net needed for a crisis of this magnitude.

Mary Jane has always been a kind, giving soul — the type of person who lights up every room and offers her heart to anyone in need. Now, she needs us.

While cancer treatment is covered by Ontario’s healthcare system, there are still many expenses that aren’t — including medications, transportation, home care, and day-to-day living costs.

To be by Mary Jane’s side during her treatment, Denmark has filed for compassionate leave from work, which means a significant reduction in their household income. With no family here in Canada, we — their friends and community — are their only support system.

We are asking for your kindness and generosity to help ease their financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward medical-related costs and essential living expenses as MJ focuses on healing.
