Hello!
My name is Heather, and I'm a cat mamma of two. I am looking to fundraise for my beautiful Miyuki (who I affectionately call Miyu!) She is eight years old and the sweetest kitty you could meet.
The other day, unfortunately, she decided she wanted to be a vegetarian and ended up getting into some green onions. Green onions are incredibly toxic to kitties. I initially called a local vet office to ask if I should be concerned, and was told no, so I left for work. When I got home later in the day, she was vomiting white foam and in poor condition. I called again, and they told me to contact Animal Poison Control (a $89 phone call) to discuss the amount and what she would need. They told me it was highly toxic and to get her to the ER.
Last night, combined with the phone call and emergency service, it was almost 800 dollars after CBC scans, fluids, activated charcoal, and anti-nausea medication. I was told that after I could take her home, but she would need to continue to take some meds, and then be seen by her regular vet in 2-3 days unless she started getting sick again or had other symptoms. She made it okay through the night, but as I monitored her through the morning, she never ate, struggled every ten minutes to try and use the litterbox, and then started lip-smacking with excessive drooling. I called again and they told me to get her back in—so queue another ER visit...! This time, they did another CBC (with plans to do a second tomorrow) as well as a urology test, and said she needed to be on continuous IV liquids for a couple of days.
The estimate they have given to me for this is 4,000 for a couple of overnights (not including what I paid yesterday!) Right now, I told them to take it just one day at a time, and so she is there overnight at the moment, and we will reassess at the end of the day tomorrow. I want to make sure she gets the most care that she can, though, and I don't want to take chances. That is why I am asking for a bit of help fundraising to help lessen the financial burden and load.
This comes on the heels of recently suffering some 3rd degree burns that hospitalized me and resulted in surgery, so literally anything for this would help and go directly to her medical care and treatment! Even just sharing this would help! So thank you very much!
I will try and keep everyone updated on her condition! Miyu and I appreciate the help as well as thoughts and prayers that can be spared our way. Thank you again.
