I am reaching out on behalf of my daughter-in-law, Mitsy, who has shown incredible strength and dedication while caring for her wife, Jessi. Jessi has been in a rehab facility in Warren, Ohio for almost two years, battling the aftermath of severe pneumococcal pneumonia. This illness has led to active kidney failure, requiring daily dialysis, and severe muscle atrophy that has left her unable to walk. The journey has been long and difficult, and Jessi’s recovery is still ongoing.

Mitsy made the selfless decision to leave everything behind and move to Ohio to be by Jessi’s side. She has been working hard to support them both, but recently faced another setback. Mitsy was involved in an accident that totaled her only vehicle. Thankfully, she was not injured, but she is now without transportation, making it nearly impossible to get to work and to the rehab facility to care for Jessi. In addition to these challenges, Mitsy covers the cost of Jessi’s medical supplies, rent, and utilities every week.
