Help Mitsy Get Skin Removal for Ostomy Bag

Hi, my name is Holly, and I am raising funds to help Mitsy have a medically necessary skin removal surgery prior to having a stoma placed for an ostomy bag. Mitsy has struggled with gastrointestinal issues for years, but recently, her health issues have escalated, and having an ostomy bag is now necessary for her to be able to live a long, healthy, pain free life.

Mitsy has lost a significant amount of weight over the years (165 lbs to be exact!), which has left her with significant loose skin on her abdomen. Because of this, she doesn’t have an area that is smooth and flat for her stoma to be placed. This skin removal surgery is not for aesthetics, but is very much necessary to be able to keep the stoma clean and secure.

Currently, Mitsy is very ill. She is in significant pain daily, and she is unable to eat or drink. This is where you come in. Even though the skin removal is medically necessary, there are several hurdles for Mitsy to get this done. Firstly, we all know how difficult insurance can be. Getting it approved, no matter how necessary it is, is going to be a battle. Secondly, because insurance approval for plastic surgery is so rare, most of the plastic surgeons in her insurance network don’t accept insurance. And lastly, even if she can find a surgeon in her network that accepts insurance AND she can get her insurance to cover that surgery, they are booking out between two and three years, and quite frankly, Mitsy does not have that time. Her health and situation is getting more dire by the day.
