Help Mitchell Fight Cancer!
Donation protected
In February 2021, our dear, sweet 22-year old friend, fellow college student and pandemic pod-mate, Mitchell Lewis, was living a normal life when an ER visit for increasing left arm and leg pain/numbness/weakness changed their life. Mitchell was rushed from Bellingham, WA to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and underwent an emergent surgical biopsy that led to a shocking diagnosis of inoperable, stage IV brain cancer. Mitchell began the unimaginable journey of chemotherapy and daily radiation treatments at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, while also juggling physical therapy appointments in Olympia, in an attempt to regain strength in their left extremities.
Prior to February, Mitchell was a beloved employee at the Black Sheep Restaurant, in Bellingham, Washington. They relied on their busy work schedule to pay for rent and other living expenses. Due to their time-consuming appointments, difficult side effects of chemo and cancer, and their inability to drive or use their left arm, they are unable to work, which has created a financial hardship. As Mitchell fights their hardest to beat cancer, we want to support them in any way we can- including helping to relieve the burden of impending medical debt. We are sharing their story to help them cover some of the costs of treatment and associated travel expenses.
Mitchell is such a kind and loving person who is doing their best to keep a positive attitude, and stay strong despite the many challenges that lie ahead. They have so much spunk and drive to succeed in whatever they do with compassion and constant consideration of others. Mitchell is the first person to help someone else in need. And somehow, they continue to push through their college course work at Western Washington University in hopes of graduating this spring quarter with a degree specializing in Japanese art and culture.
We have set up this GoFundMe to try to relieve the tremendous stress from the lack of income and allow them focus on what matters most…kicking cancer’s @$$!!
Note: As we help support Mitchell on their journey, please respect their identity as a nonbinary person and their use of they/them pronouns.
