Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out to ask for your support in helping our son in law Mitchel, and our daughter Paige, as they face a difficult and unexpected challenge.

Mitchel is a DACA recipient, and due to a recent court ruling here in Texas, the program has been declared unlawful in the state. The effective date will be decided this month and once it goes into effect, work authorization cards will be revoked, and they'll only have a set amount of time to leave the state for Mitchel to be able to keep his employment. Their immigration attorneys have strongly advised them to move out of Texas as soon as possible to protect Mitchel’s legal status and his ability to continue working.

Paige and Mitchel had already begun taking steps to begin the Adjustment of Status process to obtain Mitchel's permanent residency in the U.S., but this change has thrown a huge wrench in their plans now that they have to uproot their lives unexpectedly. They are now preparing to move to Colorado by November 1st, 2025. The move, combined with all of their immigration and legal fees, has created a sudden financial strain that they're not prepared for.

For those who may not know Mitchel’s story: he came to the U.S. as a child and has lived here ever since. He’s been protected under DACA since 2012, which requires recipients to renew every two years, maintain employment, stay out of legal trouble, and complete their education. Mitchel has done everything by the book from the very beginning. He has worked hard, stayed responsible, and built a life rooted in honesty and perseverance. Earlier this year, Mitchel was able to return to Mexico for the first time in over 20 years. It was an incredibly emotional trip - not only did he reunite with family members he hadn’t seen since childhood, but he was also able to propose to our daughter during the trip. They went on to have a beautiful, intimate wedding ceremony this past August, with hopes of having a full celebration in Mexico with both of our families together.

We have known Mitchel for over 15 years, since him and Paige met in middle school, and he even coached our son Dylan in 7 on 7 football. We’ve watched him grow from a kind, driven teenager into the wonderful man he is today. He is so sweet, loving, selfless and has been an amazing partner to Paige. He’s never asked for handouts and is always the first to lend a hand to others. He is deserving of being able to stay in the place he has called home for more than 20 years.

Your contributions will go directly toward the unexpected moving costs, housing expenses, and immigration/lawyer fees as they work to rebuild stability in Colorado.
