Our Story:
Our beloved friend Mitch Caron has been battling Pancreatic Cancer for over a year now. It came out of nowhere. It shook all of us. And yet, from the very first moment, Mitch has faced this terrifying reality with admirable strength and faith. His fight has been, and will continue to be, a long, painful, and costly one.
Mitch and Julie are self-employed entrepreneurs and have been unable to work for over 14 months while they focus on Mitch’s health.
The unfortunate development: Their insurance company has decided to stop covering Mitch’s treatments as “in-network”, leaving Mitch and Julie with already expensive bills that are now more than tripling in cost.
So far, he has had 13 rounds of grueling chemotherapy. Next are 25 rounds of radiation and oral chemotherapy.
After those treatments, the end goal is for Mitch to have the Whipple procedure — the only known “cure” for Pancreatic Cancer. “Cure” is in quotes because while it can cure cancer, it’s an incredibly invasive and dangerous surgery. Because of the high risk factor, Mitch and Julie are hoping to have this surgery performed at the Mayo Clinic, where Mitch will have the best shot at a successful operation.
We are praying that a year from now, we’ll be celebrating Mitch being cancer-free, but it will be a fight.
We’re aiming to raise $100,000 to help lift this weight off Mitch and Julie’s shoulders so that they can focus on what’s most important: Mitch’s fight against cancer.
