Help Mylyn, McKynlee, and Madi Lu Pursue Their Rodeo Dreams While Their Mother Fights Breast Cancer
Misty and Graham are loving parents and devoted supporters of their daughters’ dreams, but their world was turned upside down when Misty was diagnosed with breast cancer. Recently, Misty’s cancer has metastasized to her brain, requiring immediate surgery and intensifying the already grueling battle she faces. Despite these challenges, Misty and her husband have sacrificed everything to support their girls, Mylyn, McKynlee, and Madi Lu, who share a passion for rodeo. Even with Graham working three jobs as an educator, paramedic, and farmer, the financial strain of mounting medical bills, travel, and equipment has become overwhelming. Yet Graham and Misty’s determination to see their girls succeed remains unshaken.
Mylyn & McKynlee: Amazing Cowgirls and Freshman FFA Leaders
Mylyn and McKynlee, 14-year-old twin sisters, are both talented rodeo competitors, high achievers in school, and active members of their community. McKynlee is the 2023 Champion Steer Rider for the Outlaw J Rodeo Series. Mylyn is a talented cowgirl, bringing home multiple first-place wins this season in barrel racing and pole bending. Both are top students at the Marmon Valley Equestrian Center, maintain straight A’s in school, and are leaders in the Freshman FFA team, with Mylyn as president and McKynlee as treasurer. Their accomplishments extend to their archery team, the Green Country Cowboy Church Youth Group, and the rodeo community, where they’re always helping younger riders and setting examples as leaders. Since beginning their rodeo journey at just 2.5 years old, both girls have accumulated countless first-place wins in barrels, pole bending, and steer riding.
The twins will compete in their first professional (PRCA) rodeo in barrel racing at Cowtown Coliseum on 11/29/24, a moment that the family has worked tirelessly to make possible despite Misty’s intensified battle with cancer. Misty’s resilience has been a guiding light for her daughters, inspiring them to push through the most difficult days.
Madi Lu: Rodeo Star & Academic Achiever
Their younger sister, Madi Lu, is a standout as well. She was Runner-Up for Miss Cowgirl at the Scottsbluff County Fair in 2018, competes on her school’s basketball team, and has multiple first-place wins in the goat undecorating event. Madi Lu also has multiple top-5 finishes in barrels and poles at the Spiro Shodeo. She has trained her own horse, AJ, for barrels and pole bending and has shown excellence in academics, ranking in the top 100 in the state for the Scripps Spelling Bee in Oklahoma.
A Family in Need of Support
Misty’s cancer diagnosis and recent brain metastasis have placed a heavy financial and emotional burden on the family. They’re not only faced with the growing costs of complex medical treatments and immediate surgery, but also the expense of supporting the rodeo dreams they’ve all sacrificed so much to keep alive. Misty’s unwavering love and dedication to her daughters, even while enduring the toll of cancer treatment, is nothing short of heroic. Now, more than ever, they need the support of their community to keep these dreams alive. Your donation will directly support Mylyn, McKynlee, and Madi Lu in their rodeo pursuits, helping to cover rodeo fees, travel expenses, and essential equipment, while also easing the family’s escalating medical expenses.
Please consider contributing to this remarkable family’s journey. Every bit helps ease Misty’s burden and brings hope to her daughters’ bright futures. Together, let’s support Misty’s fight and her daughters’ dreams.
