Help Misty study at Hillsong College

My name is Misty. I'm 18 years old and I currently live in Bicester, England. My parents and I moved here 10 years ago because we felt God asking us to build communities who follow Jesus. I am a Barista at our church’s coffee shop, FLTR Coffee. I finished my A-Levels last year and have been taking a gap year to work and save money for an exciting opportunity to study abroad.
I have been accepted at Hillsong College in Australia to study in the Bachelors of Theology degree programme. Due to COVID travel restrictions, I will have to do my first year as an online student. As someone who was longing for an adventure, this was disappointing until my Aunt and Uncle generously offered to let me live with them in Atlanta, Georgia until the borders open.
I have decided to do just that - go live with the Lothamer’s in Atlanta whilst starting my degree! I am excited about this opportunity because:
- I get to live near family (I haven’t lived around family since I was 9)
- Gain more cultural experiences (I love learning about cultures)
- Continue learning Portuguese (My Aunt is Brazilian and the family speaks Portuguese in the home)
- Learn to live more independently and manage my diabetes alone
- Adjust to a big city (Before I make the move to Sydney for my Second year)
- Find a community of people my age who have similar values to me
- Search for more opportunities to grow as a musician
I am raising money to help me achieve my dream for this adventure. This next step in my journey will require a large cost, both financially and emotionally. I know this is where God is leading me so I feel confident it will be worth it! I have been saving for a year now and am prepared to get a part time job while in Atlanta to continue to do my part. I would like to ask if you would consider supporting me with a financial gift.
This is a breakdown of what it is going to cost:
Studying Theology means so much to me as I feel called to pursue a life of mission, using my God given gifts of music and teaching. I believe that you are not able to go out and teach others what you don’t have yourself, you first have to learn it. I am prepared to dive deep into learning about my Father in order to grow in my faith and gain the experience I need.
I am so grateful for each and every one of you for taking the time to listen and read about the journey ahead for me. I’m very thankful for the continued love and support I receive daily. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration to financially help me go to Hillsong College. Will you please pray for me as I come to mind over the next year, as well? My enrollment day is August 11th.
