Hello all, my name is Olivia Criswell (niece) from Yorktown, IN and I’m writing on behalf of my Aunt Misty’s story from Palmetto, FL to raise funds to repair her home after the despair of Hurricane Milton. With these funds they will be able to pay their insurance deductible of $20,000 to began insurance repairs on their home.

Misty has always been the healthy, fun loving girl that’s only a phone call away if you need her for anything. She’d do anything for the people she loves. In March 2022 Misty’s life was forever changed. She was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome. A rare blood cancer with 5 DNA mutations with the worst/most aggressive one being TP53.

Misty wasn’t going to let cancer define her story so in May 2022 she started chemotherapy and was informed she would ultimately need a bone marrow transplant. She was placed on the list and a match was found.. not just any match.. a 100% match! We could not believe it, we had found her miracle. So, in September of 2022 she had her stem cell transplant. (Also known as a bone marrow transplant) - she was declared in remission!!! Thank the lord!! Another miracle!!

But then…

In March of 2023 Misty received more devastating news that her cancer was back.. she had relapsed and this time it was converted to leukemia- AML.

Spring/Summer of 2023 Misty knew her story wasn’t over yet. So she chose to fight. She started an extremely aggressive treatment plan of multiple chemotherapies.

Misty has had every complication under the sun. You name it she’s likely had it. Her most severe complication being graft VS host - which is when her donor cells attempt to take over parts of her body that they shouldn’t. She’s had excessive bruising. Moon face & swelling from her steroids. Excessive unknown bleeding. Pneumonia 4 times. She’ll tell you that the cancer has actually been the easiest part of her journey.

Misty would never ask for help, there’s always someone out there that needs the help more than her.

In October 2024 that changed. Hurricane Milton headed straight for her home. & man did he let his presence be known. Thankfully Misty and her family evacuated inland but the winds ripped through her home. The storm ripped their roof right off and let the rain in.. her home, her safe haven.. destroyed.

Despite being dealt a grueling hand in life, Misty has NEVER lost her faith in God. She knows he has a plan for her & she is mighty in his eyes.

Many have wanted to help her in her journey but how do you help? Well now we can. Misty & Brett have a $20,000 deductible on their home which means it needs to come out of their pocket to repair it.
