Misty has always been the kind of person who carries her strength quietly. She’s the one who shows up for others, who pushes through life’s challenges without complaint, and who never asks for anything in return. Now, for the first time, she needs help.

At just 50 years old, Misty’s life changed in an instant when she suffered a massive ischemic stroke. One moment she was living her normal life, and the next she was fighting for it. Over the past month, she has endured a long and difficult journey through three different hospitals. Today, she is in a neuro rehabilitation facility, working tirelessly every single day to regain what was taken from her.

Despite the fear, the uncertainty, and the physical challenges, Misty continues to show incredible resilience. She is determined to recover. Determined to walk again. Determined to reclaim her independence.

But she shouldn’t have to do this alone.

Misty is a widow, living by herself more than 400 miles away from her nearest family. Facing a life-altering medical crisis without loved ones nearby has made this already overwhelming situation even more difficult. While she focuses on healing, the weight of reality is growing heavier each day.

The medical bills are piling up quickly, and even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are becoming unmanageable.

And the road ahead is even more challenging.

Once Misty is discharged, she will likely need extended home health care, as well as possibly transition to a more ADA-acceptable home or make her existing home more suitable to her needs, all while she is currently immobile and unable to manage any of this on her own.
