My name is Misty,

I am a 45 year old wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, and I’m also an uninsured cancer patient. 

 In March, I was diagnosed with a large cancerous mass in my cervix.

 Since then life has been a whirlwind, I have been undergoing radiation 5 days a week and a 5 ½ hour chemo treatment once a week for over a month now. We drive 3 hours (round trip) to make it to treatment. After these treatments, I move onto internal radiation which requires surgery. 

  I never thought I would be a person that would have to ask for help, but cancer changed everything! I’ve had to take a leave of absence from a job that I love, and that leaves my husband trying to fill the financial gap while taking care of me. 

 We both work in the service industry, which doesn’t offer health insurance or options for sick leave.
