Our dear friend Misty Tradeu was injured while playing in a softball game for our church team — a game where her sportsmanship and encouragement always shine the brightest.

What began as a fun night with friends quickly turned serious. Misty was transported by ambulance to the local ER, where a CT scan revealed injuries requiring specialized care. She was transferred again by ambulance to Wichita for an MRI and evaluation by a neurological team.

The Diagnosis:

• Injuries to multiple discs in her back — painful but thankfully no fractures

• Spinal cord bruising in several places, which will take time to heal

• Severe strain on the neck ligaments with blood pooling from injury

• CTE and a long road of pain management ahead

• Follow-up care with her neurosurgeon in 6 weeks and ongoing neurologist appointments

The neurosurgeons told Misty they were “really glad she came” because of the severity of her injuries. While no surgery is needed, recovery will be slow, painful, and require ongoing medical supervision.

Misty is now home, but the medical bills are already weighing heavily on her heart. As she said herself:

“My prayer now is recovery, but I’m desperately concerned about the financial. With Brian not working right now and me having to be transported to Wichita, I’m so worried about the bills coming my way.”

Why We’re Asking for Help:

Misty and her husband Brian are deeply woven into our community. They lead a Bible study in their home, serve in youth ministry at Encounter Church, and are always the first to step up for others. Right now, Misty is the only income in their household — and with three teenagers at home, the strain is real.

We’re hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover:

• Ambulance transportation

• Emergency room care

• Hospital stay & testing

• Follow-up neurology appointments

• Travel costs for treatment
