Help Misty Hales fix her car

My name is Misty Hales. The last thing I wanted to do is to start a GoFundMe. I'm a single mom of three kids. i just moved to Georgetown Tx back in February 2024. Had to my family away of a bad relationship

Hi. So today, 05/28/2024, on my way to pick up my daughter's friend, I noticed my car was making a really bad knocking sound. So, we pulled over in Bastrop to check my van. I opened the hood to find the engine knocking badly. I shut off the car and went to grab motor oil as a solution, but the car still had oil. It just had an oil change on 04/06/2024. After consulting with a couple of people, think the car mit is worth saving or need a differnt. It’s sounding like the engine has something bad wrong with it. We're waiting on it to be looked at to see if it's savable or not.

So why are we here? As many people who know me are aware, I’ve been working as a cleaning service/fast food for many years. I think I'm going to lose my job. My car is my main means of income. The formula has been simple: no car = no work = no money.

I, like many, live paycheck to paycheck and without a car, I’m doing my best to not sink further into debt. Having spent my entire day trying to sort through the chaos of what to do and what’s my best option, it seems like this is one of my few hopeful solutions. Fix mine if fixable. A brand new car would be great but it’s also not realistic for me. From all of the research I’ve done so far, something solid/reliable is going to cost me quite a bit. The more I can raise, the less I’d get buried in monthly payments for whatever I get.

Anyway, that’s where we are. I don’t have a working car and therefore cannot work. I have a loved one I can see once a month in Lockhart. It will be hard not being able to see him. My kids are my world. I work to try to give my kids the life I didn't have. Without a car, I am getting more depressed and want to give up, but I can't.

So anyone that can help, I will be so thankful for.
