My name is Misty, and I’m raising funds so my husband Darrin and I can return to our home. In 2019, Darrin suffered cardiac arrest and, after being revived, was left with an anoxic brain injury that caused lasting cognitive disabilities. He is no longer able to work, and our household income has been cut in half. I recently experienced a traumatic knee injury and have spent the last six months in rehab, unable to put weight on my leg. During this time, we’ve been staying with family, who have been wonderful, but they are unable to help us financially.

We moved into our home in 2013 after Darrin’s mother passed away, and it’s where we’ve built our life together. Because of multiple hospitalizations and falling behind on our electric bill, our power was shut off and we now face a large back charge and deposit to restore service. Without electricity, our sump pump can’t run, and water collects in our basement, creating a serious risk of mold that could harm our health. We just want to be able to go home, especially with our 37th wedding anniversary coming up in November.
