Help Misty and Journey Through This Tough Time

Supporting Misty Rice

Dear friends,

Misty Rice has recently learned she has cancer.

Cancer has become so prevalent in our society, and another of our own is facing the fight for life. We're hopeful you'll join us as we rally around her and support her and her teenage daughter, Journey, in every way we can during this time so Misty can focus on survival.

Journey needs her mom, and these two need our help. We are asking all who are able to contribute to covering expenses that at the moment are so overwhelming and feel paralyzing. There are many pieces that need to fall into place for this venture to be possible.

Maintaining her home here in Friday Harbor, keeping the bills paid while Misty undergoes surgery and then radiation treatments 7 days a week for 6 weeks. This treatment plan requires her to stay in Seattle, and she will need to pay for lodging, food, and travel to and from the hospital. Journey will be staying home here on Friday Harbor, and loved ones are going to do all that they can to keep her life as routine as possible. This is so heavy on her too, and removing as many factors of need from her young mind is the goal here.

Our hearts go out to her, and what a blessing it will be to feel the support of her island-wide family/community.

Insurance covers a large portion of the incurred hospital bills, but we will still need to provide help with deductibles and co-pays. This news is terrifying for Journey, especially being separated from her mom for such a period of time. Our goal is to be able to arrange healing hugs between them as treatment allows.
