Thank you everyone for helping my sister Mistie and nephew Samuel Carver. On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Mistie was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance due to complications with her diabetes and kidney failure, which affected her heart, blood pressure, stomach, and lab results. She is now in stage 5 renal failure and is scheduled for dialysis three days a week, but her health condition is making even in-center dialysis challenging. The very next day, on Monday, December 29, 2025, Mistie and Sam’s home caught fire, believed to have started with electrical wiring in the vent hood. The official cause is still pending, but the home is a complete loss. The Covington Fire Department did their best, but the distance from the Charleston Community made it difficult to save the house. We are heartbroken to share that Mistie’s beloved cat Melissa is missing. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Mistie is a single mother to Samuel, who is 16, and her daughter Hadley Carver Bing, 25, along with her son-in-law Bobbie, grandson Sampson (6), and granddaughter Fawnya (4). Several family members and friends have reached out wanting to help, so I’ve started this GoFundMe to assist with their recovery process. The funds will go toward rebuilding their lives—providing food, clothing, shoes, medical expenses, and temporary living arrangements. Right now, they need everything, and our first goal is to get Mistie out of the hospital and into a safe place. We will also collect household items and essentials in the future, but for now, bare necessities and temporary housing are the priority.
