Help Missy's Loved Ones Through This Tragic Loss
I am Camie, the best friend of Melissa "Missy" Hickman, formerly Buckalew.
I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of her family.
It is with immense heartbreak that I announce her passing. On the evening of Friday, 12/20/24, Missy tragically ended her life.
Missy was a proud and loving mother to two children, Ayanna (23) and Clifford (Junior, 13). She was also the Mimi of two adorable, rambunctious grandsons, Elias and Josiah.
This family has endured devastating heartbreak over the years. Missy's daughter, Ayanna, lost her father 7 years ago and her husband last April of 2023, not including several loved ones in between, and they are now forced to grieve again.
Missy has been my best friend but more like a sister for 25 years. She was my confidant, my voice of reason, and partner in crime. Missy was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the most genuine, kindhearted, and giving person. If you knew her, it was a pleasure to have her in your life. She was a prideful person, hardworking, loving, generous, intelligent, and had a sarcastic, charming wit. She could definitely make you laugh.
Unfortunately, Missy has dealt with depression for a long time and fought a hard battle until she couldn't anymore. Despite seeking help, the reality of her pain apparently was unbearable.
Her tragic death has left her loved ones with many unanswered questions and an indescribable ache in our hearts. As we navigate this profound loss, we wish to honor her memory by supporting her family through these difficult times. Unexpected financial burdens have risen and more will surely follow.
Please help us in providing support to give Missy a proper service. Any additional funds will be used for immediate needs and securing a stable future for her children and grandchildren. They will need many resources to come.
Although we may never fully grasp the insufferable darkness Missy succumbed to, we will cherish the memories and the impression she left in our hearts forever.
I want to leave everyone with this...
Mental illness is real. It does not discriminate. It can affect anyone at any time, regardless of your social status, success, wealth, health, or family dynamic.
Millions of people are currently living with mental illness and depression. Even though it is very real and taking lives at a high rate, there is still a stigma that comes with it. It's not something to be taken lightly. Please seek help if you are struggling. If you know someone who is in a dark place, be that light, offer your help, show you care. It could make a world of difference to them and a matter of life or death.
We love you, Miss, always and forever.
