Help Melissa Restore Her Health and Smile

I’m starting this fundraiser for a dear friend of mine, Melissa McCarthy. She is one of the most capable, hardworking, and generous people I know — and asking for help does not come easily to her. Unfortunately, she is facing a serious medical need that simply cannot wait any longer, and she cannot meet it on her own.

Melissa urgently needs extensive dental treatment due to severe, genetically driven tooth decay. The required care includes removal of remaining teeth, bone grafts, and upper and lower implant-supported dentures (an All-on-Four procedure). The total cost is approximately $50,000, far beyond what she and her family can afford.

Just over two years ago, two of Melissa’s teeth broke off at the gum line on the same day. In the months that followed, her condition rapidly worsened. Despite prior dental care, decay progressed aggressively, and she was told that a full reconstructive procedure would eventually be unavoidable.

Since then, all of her back teeth and several front teeth have broken off at the gum line. She currently relies on a temporary partial, but even that is failing. Eating is painful, speaking is stressful, and daily life — both personally and professionally — has become increasingly difficult.

Melissa’s condition is primarily genetic. Her father experienced the same issue later in life. While a medication may have accelerated the decline, it was not the cause, and legal options are not available.

Over the past 18 months, medical issues forced Melissa to spend significant time on disability, reducing her income by about 30%. As the primary earner in her household, this loss eliminated her savings and left no path to finance this medically necessary care.
