Party Corner Costumes is the only year-round costume and party supply store in Guelph, Ontario. They have over 4000 costumes available for rent in 39 different categories in every size and a large array of accessories including wigs, masks and one-of-a-kind locally made artisan pieces! If they don't have it they can order it in for you or make it for you! It is a woman-run small business, LGBTQ+ supportive and very involved in their community and online. It’s owner, Missy is a fierce entrepreneur and an incredible seamstress who does everything from zipper replacements to building full replica outfits! She has also been involved in the drag and burlesque community for many years and working for a variety of artists and performers for many years, creating all sorts of fabulous costumes and outfits for stage. Since the beginning of the pandemic, she and her friend Jessica have been working over 96 hours a week at the store to keep it up and running. They’ve been working relentlessly, providing help and advice in the organization of parties, festivities, costumes, mask making, sewing alterations and repairs and more! However, this year, due to the pandemic and pop-up stores, the store has lost a lot of business, to a point where my friend does not have enough money to keep going and pay her bills & expenses. Party Corner Costumes is Missy’s only source of income and with a expansive collection of over 4000 costumes ranging from actual vintage pieces to theater and movie wardrobes to high quality costumes at an affordable rental price it would be a huge loss to the local community to lose this Guelph staple who has been in business since 1988.
