Help Missa Chamness Beat Cervical Cancer!

Updates About Missa: In April 2021, just when things seemed to be getting back to "normal" after a long difficult year during the pandemic, Missa received the shocking news that she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Missa had been furloughed during the pandemic, and ineligible for unemployment due to a clerical error for the majority of the year. Due to this, she was forced to drain the majority of her personal savings to pay for rent, food, bills, etc. After a difficult extended search, Missa finally found a new career that she was very excited about. She received the life-changing news about her diagnoses only a few weeks after starting her new job. At only 32 years old, this news has already drastically changed Missa's life and has been a shock to her friends and family.

Treatment So Far: On Tuesday, 6/8/21, Missa underwent surgery in which half of her cervix was removed. The surgery was successful and Missa was discharged, only to be woken up a few hours after returning home to discover that she was hemorrhaging and had to return to the hospital in an ambulance. She was kept in inpatient care for 2 nights and received further treatment to stop the bleeding. Fortunately, she is now home and recovering.  We are waiting for further news from her medical team on the status of her cancer and if it has spread. Unfortunately, this could mean that Missa may require a full hysterectomy. 

About Missa: The first thing that comes to mind when trying to describe Missa is her incredible sense of humor. She has been able to keep that sense of humor even throughout these scary past few months. Her boyfriend, Tim, even said that Missa was making the EMT's laugh in the ambulance. Who can joke while hemorrhaging? Only Missa. She is an extremely loyal and kind person who would do anything for the people she loves. There's a reason why her best friends refer to her as "Mom"- she ALWAYS looks out for us and we know she is there for us no matter what. Its time to return the favor and ask for help and support for her.
