Help (Miss) Shelley recover after accident!

Hi, my name is Tami. I am Shelley’s BFF and we’ve been friends for almost 28 years.

On Monday, February 17, Shelley was in a horrible car wreck. Her Fiat was hit (well, pretty much run over!) by an SUV-type vehicle, which ran a stop sign and was likely speeding enough that the teenage driver could not, or did not try to, stop. Her car spun around, all the airbags deployed, and her car was totalled. The officer who responded to the 911 call and later visited her in the hospital admitted she was “very lucky” considering what her car looked like.

Shelley was transported to hospital by ambulance from the scene of the collision. Chest X-rays were taken to ensure she hadn’t punctured a lung. Thankfully she is okay, relatively speaking, in that she is alive and doesn’t have any obvious broken bones. But each day adds new bruises and pain, and she’s unable to work. Given her job as dance teacher and with her self-employed cleaning business, work will not be an option for awhile and she doesn’t have the luxury of paid vacation or sick days and can’t collect EI. While her car insurance WILL provide her a small amount of money, it’s not enough to live off of as a single-income household while she’s healing—her policy only provides a maximum of $400 per week, which isn’t even enough to cover her rent. I’m sure you can’t imagine having to live off that type of money in this economy.

I want Shelley to concentrate on getting better to 100% and not stress over money. That’s why I’m seeking your help (without Shelley’s knowledge—she’d kill me!) for ANY donation you can manage. My goal is to raise enough money to ease the financial concerns Shelley will now be dealing with: being unable to earn an income for the foreseeable future with no paid sick or vacation days, replacing her essential vehicle, and covering living expenses including the high cost of caring for her beloved diabetic cat.

I am asking if together we can be her earthly angels. Shelley is the kindest person I know and she would do anything to help anyone. Those of you who know her would agree! This is the least we can do for her. Please give anything you can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart—for Shelley.
