Help Miss Everleigh’s and Haley’s Daddy Fight
Hi, my name is Sherri Griffin, I am starting this Go Fund Me Page for Everleigh’s and Haley’s Daddy, Greg Dickey. Most of my friends and family probably don’t know that Greg Dickey, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of Multiple Myeloma which is a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow. Unfortunately, it has metastasized to his bones. He is in a great deal of pain and is no longer able to work.
No one thinks this kind of thing will happen to their family.
This nightmare all started in late July when I was over at Greg’s house and we were all playing around and Greg asked Everleigh to walk on his back to pop his back. Being that’s she is a delightfully small only 32 pound adorable 2 year old she didn’t weigh enough to pop him. I went to pop his back for him and it made a loud popping noise. We didn’t think much of it other than Greg said his ribs was very sore and teased me about breaking his rib… of course being me I teased him back saying “nah you’re just a wimp”… a couple weeks later I was over eating dinner with him and Miss Everleigh and he starting complaining that the other side of his rib cage hurt as if it was broken and that the pain was wrapping around his back and that he couldn’t seem to catch a deep breath. It was at this point I realized something must be really wrong. I took Greg to the ER and they did a CT scan that showed tiny Lytic Lesions all over his ribs, sternum, and spine and then also what looked like a healing pathological fracture of his right 6th rib… as you guessed it me popping his back had indeed cracked his rib… of course I feel terrible about it and expressed this to Greg in the ER room to which the ER doctor replies “Ma’am this is what we call an incidental finding and you popping his back and cracking his rib has most likely saved this mans life”… Nonetheless I still feel horrible that I hurt him… At any rate we still didn’t think much of it as all they did was give him some pain medicine and tell him to follow up with his primary care physician. Over the next week he got increasingly sicker and weaker and had great pain to the point he didn’t even have the strength to walk. At this point he started having cognitive impairment and confusion. When we finally got him in to see a doctor they ran some bloodwork and his creatinine was a 12.9 his kidneys were failing. We were instructed to take him immediately to the hospital with a copy of his labs and CT scan. They immediately admitted him starting plasmapheresis, dialysis and blood transfusions as his hemoglobin was at a 6.6. Two days later they did a bone marrow biopsy and found that he has what’s called Light Chain Multiple Myeloma. Even though the outlook looks bleak we know that Our God is in control and he has blessed Greg with wonderful physicians and Oncologists that are helping him to fight this battle. Greg is only 55 years old and has two beautiful daughters Haley and Everleigh.
I am starting this go-fund me page as a way to help pay for his daily living expenses, tests, chemotherapy, transfusions, dialysis, transportation and medication. With Everleigh’s dad not being able to work anymore, treatments, medical bills and daily living costs all add up quickly. I am asking those who are willing, to consider easing his financial burden and allow him to focus on healing. Anything helps even the smallest amount and it all adds up. I am even looking for a donation of a lift chair and an electric wheelchair as his pain has him with very limited mobility. Thank you for your well wishes, prayers, and any contributions you can make. Even if you are unable to donate could you please take a second and share this on your Facebook page/email.
