Help Miso Breathe Again: Save Me from Chylothorax!
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Miso, Your Friendly Soup Cat!
Meow! My name’s Miso, like the yummy soup, but my humans also call me The Soup and Tie Guy, Mr. Mayor, or Bubbies. I’m a 2½-year-old Tuxedo Kitty with a big heart and a love for chasing laser pointers, wrestling with my sister Luna, and bird-watching from my cat tower. But right now, I need your help to keep purring.
A Scary Diagnosis
Just a week ago, I started feeling awful. My vet says I have chylothorax, a rare condition where white fluid builds up in my chest, making it super hard to breathe. I can’t play, cuddle, or climb like I used to, and it’s getting worse fast. At only 2½, this is super rare for a cat like me, and without quick treatment, it could take me away from my family.
The Plan to Save Me
To get back to my playful self, I need two surgeries: Thoracic Duct Ligation (TDL) to stop the fluid leak, and Subphrenic Pericardiectomy to remove the sac around my heart. Alone, TDL has a 40% success rate, but together, these surgeries give me an 80% chance to live a long, happy life! Before surgery, though, I need expensive tests to make sure everything’s ready.
My Story
Two years ago, my parents found me at the Cleveland Humane Society. I was a scrappy 6-month-old street cat, but they scooped me up after just two days! They wanted a buddy for my big sister, Luna, who was struggling after a scary Christmas flood wrecked their home. Luna and I had to learn to share, but now we’re best buds (even if she thinks she’s the boss). I’m twice her size, but I let her win our play fights—shh, don’t tell her!
My parents shower me with love, treats, and cuddles. They’ve worked hard to keep me healthy, but this chylothorax caught us off guard. They’re fighting for me, and I’m fighting to stay their Bubbies.
What We Need
The tests to start my treatment cost $6,500, and the surgeries and follow-up care could total $10,000–$20,000. My parents have already spent $1,500 from their wedding savings (they’re getting married this October!), but they can’t cover it all. They’ve set a goal of $6,500 to get me through the critical first steps.
Here’s the breakdown:
• $6,500: Diagnostic tests
• $2,500+: Surgery and initial recovery
• $1,000+: Medications and follow-ups
How You Can Help
I’m just a cat, so I don’t get “economies,” but my parents say times are tough. Any donation helps:
• $10 buys a day of my meds.
• $50 covers a vet visit.
• $100 gets me closer to surgery.
Please donate whatever you can and share my story! Every bit brings me closer to breathing easy and chasing toys again.
Thank You, Furiends!
My parents and I are so grateful for your support. We’ll keep you updated with photos and videos of my recovery (maybe even me batting at a feather toy!). If you donate $25 or more, I’ll send you a digital photo of me with a big thank-you purr. Help me stay the Distinguished Gentleman of our family—donate and share today!
