My name is Zett, and together with my partner Daniel and our daughter, we run a small family business called Mirkwood Games & Gifts in Vancouver, Washington. We are a neurodivergent family who grew up struggling with reading and writing, and we found our strongest breakthroughs through games, storytelling, and hands-on creative play.
Games helped calm our nervous systems, strengthen our focus, build confidence, and help us connect with others. That experience shaped our mission. We started Mirkwood Games & Gifts because we wanted to bring that same magic to other kids and families.
Today, our business focuses on:
- Enhancing tabletop games with 3D printed figures and terrain
- Creating role-playing adventures that help kids practice reading and writing
- Designing STEM-based games and playful learning kits
- Bringing families together through story-driven play, and board games
- Supporting neurodivergent children who thrive with tactile and creative learning
Whenever we have extra materials or completed test prints, we donate them as fidget toys or sensory items to places like the local Boys & Girls Club and 4H programs. It is a small way we try to support kids who benefit from tactile tools.
Our dream is to grow into a community space where learning feels like play and play feels like growth.
But right now, we need help.
Our Current Situation
This past year has been incredibly challenging for our family. Personal hardship and job transitions made it difficult to keep up with business expenses, even as we continued showing up at markets, fulfilling orders, and creating new educational products for families.
We are trying to raise a single lump sum to get our business back on stable ground so we can continue operating, return to community markets, restock materials, and catch up on essential business costs that have built up over time.
