Help Mirjam vechten tegen borstkanker

De vrouw in het midden is Mirjam, mijn zus. 42 jaar, vrouw van Olaf, moeder van Merijn (7) en Tijmen (3). Mirjam is ziek. Ze heeft ‘triple negative’ borstkanker. Een gemene vorm van kanker die erg moeilijk te genezen is.
In onze familie zit een erfelijke genafwijking, namelijk het BRCA1 gen. Hiermee heb je als vrouw 60-80% kans op borstkanker. Onze moeder zijn we hierdoor 15 jaar geleden al verloren. Dat gaf ons wel het inzicht dat de ziekte erfelijk is. Mirjam kwam direct onder verscherpt toezicht in het ziekenhuis en konden we er de eerste keer op tijd bij zijn. Inmiddels is de kanker voor de 3e keer terug.
Na veel operaties, chemo’s, bestralingen lijkt het erop dat er geen opties meer zijn in het ziekenhuis als het gaat om genezing. Tijdrekken kan nog wel, maar dat is voor nu niet voldoende. Niet met twee kinderen van 7 en 3 jaar.
Er zijn nog wel wat opties, in het buitenland of zonder behandeling van een specialist. Mirjam zoekt alles tot op de bodem uit. Dat kost veel tijd, energie… en geld.
Mirjam en Olaf bekostigen al maanden alles uit eigen zak. De zorgverzekering vergoedt haar opties niet. Hier hebben we hulp bij nodig. Door crowdfunding zorgen we dat Mirjam de hulp kan krijgen die ze nodig heeft.
Ik doe een beroep op jullie.
Help Mirjam en Olaf. Merijn en Tijmen mogen hun moeder niet verliezen. Help ze om er alles aan te doen dat Mirjam de behandelingen krijgt die ze nodig heeft.

In our family there is a hereditary gene defect, namely the BRCA1 gene. As a woman you have a 60-80% chance of breast cancer. We have lost our mother 15 years ago because of this. That gave us the insight that the disease is hereditary. Mirjam immediately came under close supervision in the hospital and we were able to recognise the cancer in an early stage. The cancer has now returned for the 3rd time.
After many operations, chemo's, radiation treatments, it seems that there are no more options in the hospital when it comes to a cure. Stretching time is still possible, but that is not enough for now. Not with two children of 7 and 3 years old.
There are still some options, abroad or without treatment from a specialist. Mirjam gets to the bottom of everything. That takes a lot of time, energy... and money.
Mirjam and Olaf have been paying for everything out of their own pocket for months now. The health insurance doesn't reimburse her options. We need help with this. Through crowdfunding we make sure Mirjam can get the help she needs.
