Help Mirilee Fight Bone Marrow Cancer ✨
Donation protected
Hey there! I’m Lauren and I’m here to raise funds to help my big sister Mirilee fight multiple Myeloma. What is multiple myeloma? Multiple myeloma is an extremely rare type of cancer. It is a type of blood cancer that invades the bone marrow (spongy tissue in the bone) and causes abnormal behavior, as well as uncontrolled growth of a specific type of white blood cell, the plasma cells. This has resulted in Mirilee having multiple fractured vertebrae from her T8-T12. Because of this she is in excruciating pain and confined to her medical recliner that was so kindly donated to her!
My sister cannot work due to her condition and my brother in law is working 2 jobs to keep his family afloat. All while taking her to radiation every day and making sure she has everything she needs before he heads off from one job to another. Needless to say they are exhausted. I will be flying into town every other week to help out as much as I can. Our family is notorious for being there for each other and we are working together to get through this. But that doesn’t mean we don’t need some help.
With that being said my sister has a history of cancer. In 2014 she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Dec 12th of 2014 she had surgery to remove the tumor that was obstructing her bronchial tube and half of her left lung. After surgery all of her tests came back clear and she was finally cancer free!
Fast forward to August of 2022 Mirilee was experiencing pain in her right hip. She saw a pain management doctor and he told her that at the age of 46 she had osteoporosis. October 14th 2022 Mirilee had a total hip replacement. After recovering from that surgery she returned to work until April of 2023. She continued to see her pain management doctors until reaching a breaking point with them in September of 2023. She found a female doctor who really made her feel noticed and ran some tests and did a biopsy. That came back as multiple myeloma and that’s basically where we’re at today.
Diagnosis: Multiple myeloma
Treatment: Radiation and Chemo
Chimeric antigen receptor t-cell therapy
Appointment at Penn medicine early November to discus further treatment.

Mirilee has worked at Cedar Hollow Inn for over 8 years including in between all the surgeries and through the pain. She is a cherished member of the Cedar Hollow family and is grateful for all her coworker’s and customer’s ongoing support!
Mirilee is an incredibly strong person. I have always looked up to my big sister in so many ways. She loves her family and friend with everything she has. She loves a trip to the beach or just a drive to Valley Forge park just to get away with friends and family. Creating memories has always been so important to her. It’s been tough watching her go through this. But she’s a fighter and we’re gonna get through this and make so many more memories!
My niece is in her senior year of high school and we’re trying to keep life as normal as we possibly can. Our dad lives in Florida and has been a huge help in trying to help us navigate through this weather that be flying out at the drop of a dime, a comforting voice to call when it gets tough or financially whenever he can. We are a strong family but most importantly a team unit and we are so grateful to anyone who has and continues to support us in this journey.
Thank you so much! I will continue to keep this page updated with any relevant information.
