I am Ivana Schlott and I work at a local school district but also volunteer outside of school to assist families in need all over Berks County.
I became friends with Miriam several years ago. Miriam is a mother, grandmother and currently still has four children who attend Muhlenberg School District (daughter in 11th, twin girls in 6th, and a son in 2nd). Miriam was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and her condition has declined rapidly in the past 11 months. Her husband/step-father left her when he found out she was ill, she lost her job and her home due to the illness, and is hitting a brick wall every way she turns. She is one of the nicest humans I have ever met, takes pride in how hard she works to provide for her family, and her favorite role in life is being a mother and grandmother. I contacted Miriam on 2/5/21 and she made me aware of how desperate her situation is. I immediately reached out on FB to Muhlenberg Neighbors and our community came through and provided for the family with a grocery drive. I am trying to help her take some of these worries off her plate as she needs all her energy to fight this cancer.
This fundraiser is being set up to assist the family to secure housing. They are in a very temporary home that is going on the market any day and they must move by the end of March.
