Hello, my name is Miriam, and I am reaching out today with hope and humility as I continue my fight against cancer.

Several years ago, I was diagnosed with an encapsulated tumor. Following the recommendation of my oncologist in Puerto Rico, I traveled to New Jersey to receive specialized treatment at Hackensack University Medical Center. Thanks to the care I received and the treatments I underwent, I was blessed to achieve remission last year.

Unfortunately, during a follow-up appointment in April of this year, doctors discovered blood and fluid in the area of the original lesion. As a result, a valve had to be placed, and additional monitoring and testing became necessary to ensure my cancer has not returned.

I am currently back home in Puerto Rico, but I must travel to New Jersey in June to have the valve removed and undergo a series of critical follow-up tests. These are the same specialized studies that have helped monitor my condition in the past. However, my health insurance only covers these tests once per year, and I have now reached the point where I must pay for them out of pocket.

The cost of these medical tests exceeds $10,000, not including airfare, transportation, and other travel expenses required for my treatment. After years of battling cancer and managing the financial and emotional challenges that come with it, these expenses have become overwhelming.

I am asking for your support to help cover these urgent medical and travel costs so I can continue receiving the care I need and ensure I remain cancer-free. Hola, mi nombre es Miriam y hoy me encuentro pidiendo ayuda para poder continuar mi tratamiento y seguimiento médico contra el cáncer.

Hace varios años fui diagnosticada con un tumor encapsulado. Siguiendo las recomendaciones de mi oncólogo en Puerto Rico, viajé a New Jersey para recibir atención especializada en el Hospital Hackensack University Medical Center. Gracias a los tratamientos, estudios y al excelente equipo médico que me atendió, logré entrar en remisión el año pasado.

Sin embargo, durante una visita de seguimiento realizada en abril de este año, los médicos encontraron sangre y líquido en el área donde se encontraba la lesión. Como resultado, fue necesario colocar una válvula y continuar con estudios adicionales para monitorear mi condición.

Actualmente me encuentro en Puerto Rico, pero debo regresar a New Jersey en junio para que me retiren la válvula y continuar con los exámenes de seguimiento necesarios para asegurar que el cáncer no haya regresado. Estos estudios son esenciales para mi recuperación, pero mi plan médico solo los cubre una vez al año. Debido a esto, debo asumir costos médicos que superan los $10,000, además de los gastos de viaje y alojamiento relacionados con mi tratamiento.

Después de años enfrentando esta enfermedad, estos gastos representan una carga económica que no puedo afrontar sola. Por eso recurro a la generosidad de familiares, amigos y personas de buen corazón que deseen ayudarme en este momento tan difícil.

Cada donación, sin importar la cantidad, me acerca un paso más a completar mi tratamiento y a tener la tranquilidad de saber que estoy libre de cáncer. Si no puedes donar, compartir esta campaña también sería de gran ayuda.
