Help Mireya Bring Her Solo Album to Life

Music has always been a big part of my life, starting with my parents' love for it and serving as a vehicle for me to express myself, my ideas, and my thoughts with the world. I am a proud Afrolatina, a vocal advocate for representation and women empowerment, always utilizing this to drive my music and the message I like to represent. Founding NYC's first all-female mariachi Flor de Toloache, being nominated for a Grammy, and winning a Latin Grammy all independently have been some of the most amazing things I've accomplished, all based on the desire to connect, inspire, and empower others through music. The impact of my work both with Flor de Toloache and as a solo artist is beyond what I've ever dreamed of, and for that, I am truly grateful. As I continue the journey of an indie female Afrolatina artist and explore my solo career, I unfortunately encounter the hardships of the instability that exists in the financial part of our path and our industry.

This year has been simultaneously very productive and challenging. As I have dived into the journey of healing, emotional growth, self-love, and embracing the changes in my personal life, I've had the support of music and my beautiful community. Once again, music is saving me and is truly a great source of therapy to share my experience and vulnerability with the hopes that we normalize talking more about our feelings—the ugly and the triumphant parts, the lonely and the loving ones, the panic attacks and the serenity, the impulsive decisions and the grounding moments, the anger and the forgiveness, the uncontrollable crying and the joyous moments—all of it is a part of the human experience. I know for a lot of us women, we often feel we can't show a lot of our 'not so pretty sides' or let ourselves be seen as 'weak,' but in reality, these are all things we should feel free to share and even bond over.

All of this to say that I am putting all of my process of recent growth, reflections, funny, awkward, and confusing moments, anxiety, sadness, and so much more in my upcoming solo album. An album I truly feel a lot of people will relate to and hopefully find the support they need by realizing that they're not alone. Music has always given me the gift of connecting with people all over the world, beautiful women who continue to inspire me, connecting me with my culture, has given me the voice I often feel I don't have because of my own insecurities, and has been a great way to bring communities together to collaborate and make music.

In this new album I hope to release this year, I hope to do the same by collaborating with other independent artists who may not have the reach they deserve, bringing musicians together from different worlds to work together who would not collaborate otherwise, generating some income for those who are involved in this album, and shedding light on some of the challenges we face as women through the stories depicted in these songs.

I'm hoping to finalize this album with some of the most amazing up-and-coming producers and composers from Mexico City, NYC, LA, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico and many of my talented friends in my community, plus very exciting collaborations that will elevate this album.

Now, making music and performing are truly the things I'm passionate about, but my work and responsibility as an artist do not stop there. The more my audience grows, the more I can continue to pass down my knowledge to the next generation and mentor other artists on how to be successful independently.

Help me finalize my upcoming album titled "Metanoia," which means a transformative change of heart resulting in positive growth, realization, and perspective. After putting all of this magic into a recorded, mixed, and mastered body of work, I hope to hire a great PR team to help promote the album and have a greater reach which entails yet another budget. Once it is out in the world and with the support of the PR team, I hope to tour the album and share it live to connect with each of you in person.

Thank you in advance for your support and for the love you've given me thus far that has truly healed me and continues to fuel my music.
