Help Mirdah get surgery!
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Marie, I am raising money for our family's dog Mirdah to get the surgery she needs after a brutal and premeditated run over last night in Broome.
someone had entered our property when we were out yesterday afternoon and let the dogs out.
a witness explained later that night that they saw a SILVER NISSAN PATROL (registration unknown) had paid attention to our dog playing with another brindle colored dog and proceeded to chase and run our dog over hitting her with their bullbar, and running over her completely before driving away. this person DID NOT STOP to check if our dog had survived, they have not contacted the ranger, police or vets or any residents on the street to report the incident. this was a hit and run attack!
I find the attack itself inhumane, and unjustifiable as thats what it is. and i will be doing everything in my power to have this person held responsible
I noticed the open gate when we returned home last night and no one we know of has been by, our cameras work but someone keeps damaging the solar panels and motion sensors despite how many times I repair, i spose its a given to where we live... but its not right either..
Mirdah was crying last night when I found her and was in alot of pain. I noticed open wounds to her face and her ankle was clearly snapped. I made her as comfortable as I could and called the afterhours vet, who advised upon collecting Mirdah that pain relief for last night was roughly $500 and she would need an xray to determine whether the break is fixable.
The vet advised me today that with the help of a large plate going from knee to heel Mirdah would be able to keep her leg but this surgery would cost roughly $4,500-$5,000.
Our kids are distraught that their best friend is not home at the moment; waking up to hear what had happened. I am unable to answer their questions as to whether Mirdah will be coming home or not as we're unsure how we're going to cover such a large amount with only one income and Christmas and the 6 week holidays so near.
Mirdah was my Mother's Day present in 2019, before getting her I was unaware how genuine and loving American bulldogs truly are. I named her Mirdah as this means woman/girl in the Pilbara, where I am from... The love and care she has for our family and friends is so beautiful, she is so gentle and sweet, she escorts any little ones around our garden and on outdoor adventures and loves her runs on the beach with Mum and mud crabbing and fishing with dad. she's a big kid brain. she loves a shower under the sprinkler daily and drinking directly from the hose, no matter how full her bowl is. She can sense when anyone of us needs a hug or someone to yarn to, and when something isnt right about someone. The thought of having to let her go because of such a malicious act of animal abuse has broken my heart, I miss her.
like any loving pet owner, as well as reporting this to police, the council/ranger I have also notified the RSPCA who do not take lightly to these sorts of behaviors towards animals. I hope the person is caught and dealt with accordingly but for now I really just want to make sure our big girl is comfortable and able to have recover with the best care possible as she deserves it 1000%
I have attached details if you wish to donate to Mirdah's surgery, and I thank everyone for their kind words and generosity during this hard time.
Cheers,
Marie & Family
