Help Me Lay My Mother to Rest and Navigate Her Final Affairs

I find myself at a crossroads I never expected. My mother, Linda Kay, who recently passed, was more than just a parent to me — she was my closest companion, my grounding force, the person who shaped the very core of who I am. As her only child, born on Mother’s Day, the weight of her loss is mine to carry, and with it, the responsibility of everything that follows.

She was a woman of quiet grace, whose kindness radiated effortlessly. Her presence was a balm to anyone lucky enough to be in her orbit, and her gentle nature hid a strength that only those who knew her well could understand. She touched lives in a way that was deeply personal, leaving a mark that will outlast her. In all things, she was beautiful — not just in appearance, but in the way she cared for the world, in the way she listened and loved.

Now, as I face the weight of this loss, I am also tasked with managing the intricate details of her estate, her affairs, and the life she left behind. This is a heavy load — one I carry with love but without the means to do so alone. I never imagined needing to ask for help, but the reality is this: I cannot bear these costs on my own.

The funds raised here will help cover:
• Cremation and a tree pod burial, honoring her in a way that reflects her love for nature and the world around her
• Memorial and reception costs (flowers, flyers, food, space rental) to celebrate her life and legacy
• Flights and travel to Texas, along with gas to bring her car back to California.
• Missed work for myself and the person accompanying me to Texas, and covering costs to keep my small business running while I’m away
• Pet care, including rehoming her cats, tending to her dogs’ medical needs, and ensuring they are well cared for during my absence
• Appraising and handling her estate and furniture
• Moving costs, including a POD from Texas to LA to bring her belongings home
• Renting an Airbnb in LA, as I try to find stability during a time of uncertainty
• Official documents, closing her accounts, and settling any small debts
• Store supplies and extra inventory to keep my small business afloat
• Transferring her car title and registration to California
• Taking over her mortgage temporarily, while I manage the estate and probate process
• Paying for legal assistance to navigate the complexities of estate matters

The goal of $56,888 is a reflection of these real, necessary costs — an amount that will allow me to handle her affairs with the care and dignity she deserves. She was a woman who gave so much to others, and now, in her absence, I am simply trying to give back what I can. I was her whole world, I want to honor her with as much clarity and focus as possible, which is more realistic with the alleviation of financial burden and woes.

If you are able to donate, I will be forever grateful. I’ll treat you to something from my store, help you in any capacity that would be beneficial to you. If you cannot, sharing this with others is just as meaningful. Every bit of support helps me shoulder this load, and I am deeply moved by all the kindness that has already been shown.

***This will be updated when I have results from her medical exam with the date of the funeral and reception.

Thank you,
Miranda Jayne
