Help Mira Represent the USA in Lithuania

Donation protected
My name is Mira Meek, and I’ve been selected to train with the U.S. National Team this summer in preparation for the U19 World Rowing Championship in Trakai, Lithuania this August. I’m a senior at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia, and have been rowing since eighth grade. Out of rowers across the country, I’m one of just a few girls selected for the team—and the first ever from my school. Representing my Arlington community on the world stage is an unbelievable privilege.

I’m so deeply honored to have this opportunity to compete for the United States, but the travel and training costs are a significant barrier. I feel such immense appreciation for the sweeping support of my family, teammates, coaches, and friends, but I need your help to make it to Worlds. Any financial contribution you can make to my cause is greatly appreciated, as it will enable me to compete on a world stage in the sport to which I’ve dedicated so much time, energy, and love.

More about me:
Having competed in 110+ races, I’ve won 3 state championships and placed nationally with Wakefield High School Crew. I began rowing in 8th grade under Coach Russell Topp and made the Varsity team Freshman year. Last year, my boat won the Girls' Jr 8+ Trophy at the largest scholastic regatta in the country, the Stotesbury Cup in Philadelphia. We remain a strong team heading into the Spring season, hoping to retain our state championship trophy for the 5th year in a row!

At Potomac Boat Club in D.C., I raced to 10th at the Head of the Charles and 1st at the Head of the Schuylkill in the single this past fall. I’ve trained with PBC since 2022 under the guidance of coaches Carol Dinion and Matt Madigan, practicing 10 times per week this winter.

I was honored to race at Ready Set Row’s Elite Girls’ Camp in Summer 2024, rowing in the V8 and 4- under coaches Jackie Kleinhans and Alana Holt. I won 3 national gold medals alongside my exceptionally skilled teammates and developed an elite-level athletic mindset.

As of October 2024, I committed to row Division 1 at the University of Virginia under Head Coach Wes Ng—an achievement I owe to my family and coaches at PBC, RSR, and Wakefield.

Those who know me would say rowing is the biggest part of my life. Being a 24/7 athlete means I spend endless hours, days, and weeks reflecting on technical feedback, ensuring I’m properly hydrated and fueled, and rooting for the success of my teammates. This sport is what I do and love, and Lithuania is the next step.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my story! I appreciate any donation you can make—if you cannot contribute financially, words of encouragement mean the world to me.
