Aloha!

My name is Mira & I'm currently trying to raise money to help me both physically recover & to restart my life after two difficult events happened, back to back, very recently to me: first, a bad injury followed by an unexpected, fast, & huge relocation!

Several weeks ago, as I was heading to work, I had the misfortune of slipping on the stairs in my apartment building...severely fracturing my ankle. Thankfully, three days later, I did have ankle surgery. However, while on my path of healing, I was unfortunately confronted with an emotionally, mentally, physically unsafe living dynamic at home & had to quickly leave... leaving almost all my belongings.

After staying temporarily on various local friends’ couches for a few days, I had to make the difficult choice of leaving my home state of Hawaii due to the extremely high cost of living, thus moving to the mainland... specifically to Michigan, where I have some friends. These friends are helping me as much as possible given their own life circumstances, but they can't do it all, though they would if they could.

I am coming to Gofundme with the hopes & desire of getting my physical recovery back on track as I don't have Michigan accepted medical insurance & I'm currently due for my two week post operation follow-up appointment so I will have out-of-pocket doctor expenses.

Also, I'm restarting my life in a completely new place & need help adding to what belongings I was fortunate enough to quickly grab & able to take on the plane with me, along with possibly some help covering the cost of basic living expenses (food, transportation, & to try to help with some of the utilities I'll be using while staying

with others) until I can maybe first get some state assistance & then finally, literally & financially, get on my own two feet!

Above are pictures of my time in the ER after my fall. I currently do not have the updated x-ray pictures that I was supposed to get since I was unable to go back to see my doctor because of having no set, secure place to live. Though I was able to stay with local friends here & there for a few days, I had no idea where I would be staying one day to the next so wasn't sure if I'd be able to get to a doctor appointment promptly, if at all.

My hope is that with your donation, I will be able to get my recovery going again by having a follow-up appointment for my ankle without having to wait weeks or months to get new medical insurance started first & then beginning my physical therapy journey so I can work, be independent, & support myself! I'm not looking for a handout, but a hand-up back onto my feet.
