My name is Karolina, and I am raising funds for Míra's OPTUNE cancer treatment.

Míra Lavička, known as Lava to bikers, is a former policeman, driving school instructor, motorcyclist at heart, and railway dispatcher. Above all, he is a father of two children. His life took a sudden turn when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

"It started in September 2023. I felt a rush of heat and smelled acetone during a motorcycle trip in Poland. By December, I was experiencing these episodes five times a day."

After numerous tests, the cause was finally revealed: a brain tumor. The day he was supposed to pick up his daughter's first ID card, he was taken to the hospital. The tumor was partially removed the day before his 46th birthday. Unfortunately, it was malignant and one of the most aggressive types. Míra now faces ongoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which only slow the disease and make him very sick.

"The hospital suggested a treatment called OPTUNE, which uses alternating electric currents to inhibit cancer cell division. While it won't cure me, it offers a chance to live longer. I dream of teaching my daughter Majda to ride a motorcycle. She's fifteen now, and I don't know if I'll be there with her."

Míra's wife, Bára, shares their struggle: "We met when I was 16 and have spent half our lives together. We've been planning our future, but now we're told we only have a year and a half left. I can't imagine life without him."

OPTUNE treatment is available in the Czech Republic, but it costs EUR 25,000 per month.

For the full course, Míra needs £300 000, which he cannot afford, and his insurance won't cover it.
