Our Mira Karajovic was diagnosed with stage 4 uterine cancer in February 2019. I am reaching out for support and love to help Mira fight for her life.
After a routine exam in December 2018, she was found to have an abnormal mammogram and pelvic and abdominal CT scan, only to be diagnosed a month later with both stage 1 breast cancer and stage 4 uterine Carcinosarcoma, one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. After the diagnosis, she went to Sloan Kettering in New York for a second opinion, and both diagnoses were confirmed.
The recommended treatment consists of 6 cycles of chemotherapy . Mira had her first chemo treatment on Tuesday, March 26. She hopes to incorporate alternative treatment like immunotherapy, cannabis, & acupuncture, in addition to conventional therapies. The initial alternative treatment is $13k and not covered at all by insurance.
Mira Karajovic came to the USA with a medical degree from Belgrade, Serbia, continued her studies in Chicago, and completed her medical qualification exams. Mira brought her exceptional talent and passion for folklore to the children of her church and for the last 30 years has put her church on the map as the foremost center of Serbian folklore dance and culture. Coach Mira created one of the top folklore groups in the nation. But her greatest gift to us is the love for Serbian heritage through music and dance she instilled in our hearts.
Mira needs financial support for the out of pocket expenses and alternative treatments. Your support and contributions are needed to help our Coach win this battle and continue her passion and love for folklore dance.
