Help Minnie the 3 legged dog walk again!!
Hi this is Minnie, my 4 year old, three legged Cockapoo. I adopted her two years ago but before I adopted her, in her previous home she had severe hip dysplasia and ended up having to have both her hips replaced but one hip failed twice and she had to have one of her back legs amputated, when she was quite young.
We have just found out that the remaining back leg she has, her hip replacement has now failed. The hip replacement has become loose and twisted around, meaning she is struggling to get around and is on a lot of high strength painkillers to keep her comfortable. This is a pretty rare thing to have happen unfortunately and nobody could have predicted this happening.
The only option she has left, is to have, Femoral Head and Neck Exision Surgery (FHNE).
Unfortunately due to her having so many surgeries before we adopted her, it means the insurance won't pay for anything to do with her remaining legs and hips.
She will be having the surgery done at Greenbay Vets in Torbay by the orthopedic surgeon, John Mather.
The cost of the operation is £2500 and then she will need a lot of physiotherapy and hydrotherapy afterwards, which also isn't covered under insurance and will cost an extra £400 approximately.
We have spent a lot of money already in x-rays, vet appointments and lots of strong painkillers, all of which we are having to pay for ourselves as her insurance won't cover it.
We would be so grateful and appreciative if anyone could possibly please help us in raising money towards her operation, as it's a lot of money to find, especially in a short space of time, as she needs this operation as soon as possible and we've already paid out nearly £1000 for her X rays, appointments and medications.
Anything would be a huge help for our happy go lucky gorgeous beautiful girl. She's managed to overcome so much in her life already and I know she'd be able to overcome this and have her quality of life back.
She's still her happy, smiley, loving self and still trying to enjoy her life as much as possible and we know we have to help her fight for her life.
Thank you so much for reading our story it means a lot to us.
