Help Minnie Recover from Life-Saving Surgery

Yesterday my childhood dog Minnie suddenly became extremely ill. She stopped eating, was vomiting and clearly in some pain. When she developed shallow breathing, we rushed her to the emergency vet where they discovered a life-threatening bowel obstruction that required immediate surgery. The vet said that without the surgery we could end up losing her. As any pet parent would we said yes to whatever was needed to save her life.

Minnie's surgery revealed she had eaten gravel and other small items that became lodged creating a serious intestinal blockage as well as pneumonia from the vomiting she endured. The procedure was long and required x-rays, blood testing, oxygen that she is still currently dependent on and medication to manage pain and infection as well as her ongoing medical treatment in the hospital.

Unfortunately, it is still early to tell but we made it through surgery, and we are now waiting to see how she recovers and will need careful monitoring.

The reality is that Minnie's care came with a staggering $11,000.00 bill. As much as I would never hesitate to save my girl this unexpected expense is putting an enormous financial burden on me as I am the primary caretaker.
