Mindy Kerley has been my wife and significant other for over ten years, and she’s always been the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. On January 3rd, 2026, our lives changed suddenly when Mindy became paralyzed. It started with her left leg, then progressed to her right leg and up her to her waist. She woke up unable to move her left leg, and by the time we got her to the hospital, she couldn’t control either leg. The pain was excruciating, and she is now in a rehab facility, working hard every day to regain control of her nerves and learn to walk again.
While Mindy was in the hospital they did give us a definate diagnosis, except her calcium was low. She then was transferred to rehab facility, with still no definate diagnosis. Sante of Mesa did a marvolous job with the info and lack of information they got. While in the rehab her secondary insurance was canceled because she received a small increase in her social security disability income. We didn’t know until it was too late, and now we’re scrambling to find her another secondary or Medicare Advantage plan. Because we got this info after the 1st she cannot sign up for new insurance until April 1st. In the meantime, we’re paying for rehab out-of-pocket, and I’m working to make our home safe for her return, since she’ll be using a walker or wheelchair. The costs have piled up quickly, and we’re facing deductibles and bills we never expected.
Anyone who knows Mindy knows she is thoughtful, caring, and always willing to help others. She needs your help now, but is too humble to ask herself. Mindy is striving and working hard to overcome this challenge, and your support would mean the world to us. Thank you for considering a donation to help Mindy on her road to recovery.
