A Love Tale --Help Mindy Overcome Seizures and Hardship

A plea to love. To be the love we all needed at some point in our lives. To be the change for those who need it most, in a world that rarely offers it.

Have I ever you told about the strongest soul I have ever encountered? When I first met her, she assumed I didn't like her short hair, little did she know I simply adored it. We fell in love as they write in stories, as they act out in plays, as they project on film. If you think it doesn't exist or can't happen to you... allow me to be your proof that it can. Hopelessly, cynically, rejoicefully in love... for almost 3 years now.

As any man who chooses to love a woman I set out to discover and learn about the greatest mystery of my life, all that she is, all that she was, all that she will be. My only prayer being that I can accompany her on all her journeys that await her. That she would never be or feel alone again. Over the course of 2 years I have discovered the strongest soul I have ever encountered. Heartbreaking accounts of betrayal and atrocities. Loveless relationships in which she poured out every fiber of her being only to be met with deceit and pain and heartbreak. Homelessness on the cold streets of Oregon. Sleeping in cars and on couches, never fully feeling safe. Homeless on the subways of NYC. Hiding that fact from her friends and employers. To sleeping on park benches and showering at gyms in between working 2 jobs. Multiple sexual assaults, both from strangers and would-be-monsters, along with the wolves in sheeps' clothing that she agreed to go on one date with. There is more to tell, but what I want to emphasize above all else is that through it all she maintained a beautiful smile she held like a light. She continued to have faith in humanity and show kindness. Even when that kindness has been repeatedly met with cruelty.

On the second day of 2025 we set out on a trip to the store. Hopeful and optimistic about the new year. During the drive Mindy suffered a massive grand mal seizure. It was on this day we discovered Mindy was epileptic. As we began her journey to discover more about her condition, doctors visits and extensive testing, we also discovered that she has a dissociative disorder brought about by the severe traumas of her past. The realities of such would soon play out through more episodes--each more terrifying than the last. As much as I wish I could do more, I am limited to standing by her side and providing all the support that I am able to give, and keeping her safe. As her testing continues, she is applying for disability benefits and assistance. Doing all she can move forward, still kind, still smiling. Unfortunately it is very common for her to have 1-4 seizures a day, making it almost impossible to hold down a job. That in turn has made it very difficult for myself to set out to work and support us further. Leaving her alone could be simply disastrous.

The medications, tests, and appointments with doctors, specialists, and hospitals are expensive, even with her insurance, the copays are piling up. She has many more appointments scheduled and much more testing to do. The majority of our income/revenue comes from a very small pension check, or rather what remains of it, and the small business we have selling items in the fashion and clothing world. Yet, as we speak, she is at risk of having her entire inventory seized and auctioned off by the storage company. Slowly falling behind on bills, and struggling to make ends meet, I cannot simply leave her and work until we can secure help and supervision, and/or finally get her seizures under control. No amount is too small, and every donation is an act of love. I cannot help but feel like I have failed her, so this is my attempt to love her any way I know how.

Thank you for reading, and if you are able to help her, thank you in advance.
