Hi everyone,

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. I never imagined I would be asking for help like this, but I am at a point where I have exhausted every option.

For the past two years, my children and I have been living in an unstable and emotionally harmful environment. My husband has repeatedly taken away my only vehicle — most recently four weeks ago — leaving me without transportation. Without a car, I cannot take my 16-year-old daughter, Camila, to school because we live outside the school district. I also cannot get to appointments or secure employment.

During this time, Camila has had to stay with a friend for weeks just so she can reliably get to school. While I am grateful for the kindness of others, this is not a stable or permanent solution. Children deserve consistency, safety, and a peaceful home.

I have also been informed that our February rent was not paid, despite there being no outstanding debt due to a bankruptcy filing at the end of 2025. This is not the first time rent has gone unpaid without my knowledge. In April 2025, I was given a 10-day notice to pay or vacate. At that time, I was left with no options and had to call my oldest daughter in Florida with only a week’s notice to come help relocate me and my children because we had nowhere to go.

When conflict arises, financial support and resources are withheld from me. I have now been told that divorce papers have been filed and that my husband is seeking custody of our daughter, claiming I am unstable — despite the fact that I have been left without access to money, transportation, or support.

I have no family in Indiana who can step in to help me locally. My oldest daughter is doing everything she can from out of state, but she can only do so much.

I am asking for help to raise $3,500 to retain a lawyer so I can begin the legal process of protecting myself and my daughters and creating a stable, healthy home environment. These funds will go directly toward:

Attorney retainer fees

Court filing costs

Transportation solutions

Immediate stability for housing and basic needs.

This is not easy to share. I value privacy, but at this point I am a mother fighting for stability and safety for my children.
