Family, Friends, and all of you in between - We need your help to alleviate some of the financial strain this unfortunate accident has caused for my mom and our family. A fun week-long camping trip took a literal wrong turn and has had devastating consequences to our family. The trailers brakes went out on the trailer and thanks to the maneuvering and quick thinking of mom she was able to avoid going off the cliff and anyone else on the road. Mindee has been in the hospital receiving care for her injuries in Santa Rosa several hours away from home, and I as her eldest daughter have been staying at a hotel to ensure she gets the best care and is physically and mentally ready to handle the realities of her situation. She’s suffering from a broken scapular, clavicle and 8 broken ribs as well as needed surgery for the laceration in her shoulder that needed 10 staples. We’re very thankful that the passengers of the vehicle, my sister Karmel, and Cousins Brilyn and Taydyn, were able to be discharged from the hospital with Taydyn having injuries but able to go home. After several days of coordinating I was able to view and retrieve any personal belongings from the accident. But there were none. The camping trailer that was going to shelter and feed and clothe my family was now nothing more than a flatbed trailer. “It's just stuff. All that matters is that you are all alright”- this is the phrase I keep repeating to my mom, my sister and even myself but stuff has a cost, hotels and gas and being away from home and all of its comforts, unfortunately have a cost. Among some of the “stuff” is almost the entire wardrobe of my mom, Nana Dee, and Karmel, Karmel's cell phone and eyeglasses, and Taydyns Laptop for school. Not including the weeks worth of groceries and camping gear. We're not looking to recoup everything, but we are asking for help to cover some of the cost to get some of these necessities and to ensure that Mindee has a support system until she can be transferred back home. Lastly we just found out that we will be dealing with impound fees as well for the trailer as it was not covered for damage or disposal. The funds necessary to cover that will be coming out of my personal savings that were intended for me to move to Michigan next month to be with my husband. At this point anything helps, and we have one hell of a support system. Thank you in advance, if you can’t donate please share so that none of us involved are unduly affected by this tragic situation. I’m learning that this system has its limitations and am willing to coordinate donations through other means, either cash or clothes camping or other. Feel free to reach out at anytime to coordinate, thank you again.
