THANK YOU!! We met our goal!

Mimi here - Where do I begin? I never thought in a million years I would find myself in the position to rely on a GoFundMe page for help. I am usually the one making them for other people in need, but here I am. Please understand that I did have friends offer to make this on my behalf, but I felt it was important that you hear this directly from me.

Background

In early October of 2024, I started what my doctor would diagnose as Post Menopausal Bleeding. Basically, I have started my menstrual cycle again after not having one for 18 years. Back in 2007, I had a procedure done called an "Ablation." We get endometrial ablations to treat heavy menstrual bleeding. This minimally invasive surgical procedure destroys the lining of the uterus, which reduces or stops menstrual bleeding. Fast forward to October 2024 - I noticed I started having lower back pain and cramping in my abdomen. Lo and behold, that night I noticed light bleeding. At first, I didn't think twice - I had just helped Boo Boo pass over the rainbow bridge, so I chalked it up to stress. I did a little research but made an appointment to see my doctor. A few days before my appointment, the bleeding stopped, so I canceled my appointment, ONLY for it to start up again in a few days. I made another appointment, which I kept. After 1 month of painful cramps and nonstop flow, I was finally seen. My doctor immediately did a biopsy but didn't offer any treatment. I asked him to give me a hysterectomy, He wanted to wait for the results. The biopsy came back benign, which was a sigh of relief. He made another appointment for me to have a vaginal ultrasound. That would be in 2 weeks - at this point, we had already started to talk about my options. Hysterectomy vs. another ablation. I told him that I wanted a hysterectomy but whatever we decided to do, I needed to have it done before 2025 because my medical deductible had been met for 2024. He assured me that it would be no problem, that he would definitely be able to fit me in before the year was up. My ultrasound was clear, but he did say that the left side of my uterus had an unusual "thickening" but was not concerned. Again, we talked about options. I insisted on a hysterectomy and he said he wanted to wait a few more weeks to "see if it would stop on its own." If anything, it was getting worse, and I told him so. He assured me again he would be able to get me in before the year was up, even brought out his surgery calendar and showed it to me. Two weeks later, now in mid-November, he decided to try hormones. Progesterone for THREE MONTHS - I reminded him that if we were going to do surgery, it had to be in 2024. He then informed me that he could not fit me in before December 2024. I was shocked and confused. At this point, I told him that there would be no way I could meet my deductible in March if we had to do surgery. I ended up taking the hormone for 2 months, and it never worked. On December 30, I found myself in the ER from excessive bleeding. They did another vaginal ultrasound and transverse ultrasound. This time, the left side of my uterus was twice the size from when he did it. This concerned him, so he moved my March appointment up to January 22nd. It snowed that day, so they moved it to February 6th. Feeling worse and worse every day, I made it in, and he said surgery right away. He was concerned with the growth on the lining.

Here is where the GoFundMe comes in - I can't have the surgery unless my $6500 deductible is met and I currently have 2000 saved. The surgery itself is over $35,000 per the hospital. I had it set for today March 7th, but my doctor's office called three weeks ago and canceled my surgery because I couldn't come up with the remaining balance. I am devastated - I am sick to my stomach every day from the cramps. I need to get this taken care of. I am concerned there is something bigger going on and the longer I wait, the fear grows.

I know times are tough for everyone, and trust me, I have no unrealistic expectations that I will meet my goal, but every tiny bit will help.

I understand that GoFundMe takes a 2.9% transaction fee plus $0.30 per donation, so if you feel moved to help me but don't want to pay the fee, I have CashApp, Venmo, or Zelle.
